Elba Island

Cape Nasuto

The first point west of the port of Marciana Marina is Cape Nasuto, a headland overlooking the sea that continues underwater with a ridge creating several terraces, allowing us to carry out the dive with different profiles.

The east wall is less steep and stops at about 26 meters depth, while the west wall begins with a gentle boulder drop-off down to about 20 meters and then drops steeply beyond 40 meters, offering an impressive drop-off from which numerous pelagic species can be observed swimming in the blue, in particular schools of dentex and some solitary barracuda.

The wall is covered with yellow gorgonians (Eunicella cavolini) and fragmented by numerous cracks where large groupers, conger eels and moray eels hide, while beyond 30 meters it is easy to spot the antennae of lobsters peeking out from their dens.

As the wall is very long, usually only part of it is explored at greater depth before ascending along the rocky terraces during the return; for this reason the site is suitable for carrying out at least 2 dives in order to be fully explored.
