Careno Rock
A few hundred meters from the characteristic rock of Punta di Sant’Andrea lies the ridge of “Il Careno”, a very long wall that begins from a plateau at around 18 meters, from which numerous large boulders rise, offering shelter to much typical fauna.
The wall develops among canyons, crevices and vertical faces enlivened by yellow gorgonians, colorful sponges and crustaceans such as lobsters and squat lobsters. But the real spectacle is offered by the schools of fish that swim calmly between the wall and the plateau: dentex, huge barracuda and often fast bonito.
Encounters with eagle rays and large tuna are not uncommon.
Given the vastness of the route, it is certainly possible to carry out at least 2 different dives at this site, but here the current is often strong and for this reason the dive is suitable for experienced divers, but the spectacle is guaranteed!
