Elba Island

Leccia Pinnacle

The deep pinnacle of Leccia is located on a sandy plateau. The summit is reached by making a blue water descent from 0 to 32 meters depth, and from there the dive continues by exploring the numerous cracks encountered while descending towards the maximum depth of around 48 meters.

With a bit of luck, at that depth it is possible to encounter a sleeping small-spotted catshark (Scyliorhinus canicula) resting between the rock and the sand. Sightings of pelagic fish are instead uncommon.

The particular feature of this pinnacle is the variety of red gorgonians (Paramuricea clavata) and yellow gorgonians (Eunicella cavolini), but above all the remains of a Roman anchor at a depth of about 36 meters, undeniable evidence of a past rich in history.

Obviously this dive, due to its characteristics, is reserved only for the most experienced divers.
