Scoglietto – Christ Statue
The dive begins with a blue water descent down to about 20 meters to encounter a sandy plateau constantly populated by schools of seabream and often barracuda.
We swim towards the northwest to reach the ledge that meets the outermost headland at a depth of 47 meters. Here we find large branches of red gorgonians (Paramuricea clavata) and numerous lobsters.
Leaving the headland, we often see eagle rays (Myliobatis aquila) and large dentex swimming alongside us, while we reach a plateau on which stands a bas-relief depicting Christ, enhanced by the presence behind it of a beautiful wall completely encrusted with yellow sponges (Aplysina, Haliclona and Axinella).
Unfortunately the depth is considerable (we are at about 39 meters), so we must leave this spectacle to return towards the wall of Scoglietto, where we can carry out our safety stop exploring among the rocks to spot groupers and forkbeards (Phycis phycis).
