Elba Island

Scoglietto – Grouper Drop-off

The dive begins on a rocky and Posidonia plateau populated by schools of salema, seabream, saddled seabream and clouds of damselfish.

It continues along a boulder drop-off encrusted with multiple species of algae, colorful sponges and bryozoans, descending quite gently and creating a series of crevices where it is possible to spot scorpionfish, moray eels, brown meagre, octopus and nudibranchs.

The particular feature of this dive is the very large number of groupers, including some of considerable size.

The maximum depth (about 24 meters) is reached where the drop-off ends, and here it is easy to find large groupers swimming calmly together with schools of dentex that can easily reach 3 kg in weight.

It is often possible to complete the entire dive accompanied by dense schools of barracuda.
