Cape Civitata

Punta della Civitata is located just outside the port of Pianosa Island, following the coast towards the west.

Mooring south of the headland, you swim towards the open sea to find at 20 meters depth a clear drop that descends down to 45 meters.

Very impressive is the large gully that rises from the bottom upwards, presenting rocks colored by bright sponges and abundant benthic life, including moray eels, conger eels and groupers. A cave populated by numerous Apogon can be seen.

Another dive can be carried out at a very short distance outside Scoglio della Civitata, which offers another beautiful terraced wall descending down to 40 meters in an alternation of boulders and cavities completely covered by small Parazoanthus.
