Just in front of the Gulf of Marina di Campo we find Fonza shoal called "Reef" because it is one of the only places on Elba where the presence of the red coral (Corallium rubrum) is abundant. This point is very rich in all forms of life, including abundant pelagic fish like barracudas and yellowtails, but definitely the most interest is aroused by encrusted canyons of red coral branches that reach several centimeters in length. In this place sometimes there is sustained current, so this dive is for advanced divers even if the top of the shoal would also allow access to less experts.
