Not far from the small island of Palmaiola we meet find a shoal area with many rocks called the Friar rocks, this is an area of ​​strong currents passing through the channel between the island of Elba and Piombino, and for this reason diving is for experienced divers even if you do not reach great depths. The current guarantees the almost constant presence of pelagic fish including often eagles rays (Aquila Miliobatis), tuna and amberjacks also large. Also, thanks to the current all the rocks are covered with orange sea daisies (Parazoanthus).
